In the Roman Catholic Church the pope is considered infallible, incapable of making a mistake, when speaking on issues of faith and morals for the whole church. Personally, I have a problem with this, because it removes the element of being human, and thus subject to error. I also think that it limits the ability of the Holy Spirit to freely direct the Church. In reality, I think it was a reaction in 1870 to the fact that the pope had lost his power as a Secular Prince of Italy. What do you think?
